The good news: if you are open to it and willing to put in the work you can change negative thinking patterns and have a life beyond your wildest dreams! Just work on it one day at a time and you will begin to see the beautiful shift. Focus on letting go and being joyful in this present moment while embracing the endless possibilities of the future that lies ahead. You are only hurting yourself by holding onto that negative energy. The same goes for holding grudges against others. It’s simple: gratitude makes you happier!īeating yourself up about past negative thoughts and behavior is a negative thought and behavior in itself. Grateful people show higher levels of positive emotions, life satisfaction, vitality, and optimism. Reflect on the day and identify 5 things you are grateful for. Socialize with people who create energy.Ĭount your blessings instead of sheep before you fall asleep. You are the sum of the people you spend the most time with. Postive people hang out with people who are likeminded and supportive. For better or worse, we become more like the people we hang out with. Others may have the opposite effect, draining us of our energy and making us feel tired and exhausted. Their presence nurtures and encourages us. Some of the people we deal with on a daily basis are a joy to be with. In our everyday life we are surrounded by a variety of people. The only moment, the most important moment. Meditation or yoga help you to stay present to your experience instead of jumping to what could happen. Yoga is also very relaxing which helps ease the mind. Meditation of yoga takes your focus away from my thoughts and brings your attention to your breath. Instead, say, ‘I could use more energy’ or, ‘Once I’m fit and healthy, I’ll be fine.’ Focus on the positive, desired outcome. The more you repeat your complaints, the worse you’ll feel. Every time you say something like, ‘I’m feeling so tired’ you’re simply adding to your burden.

If you don’t feel well or you’re tired, never tell anyone that. ‘I am courageous and I stand up for myself.’ ‘I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful.’ This is triggered into positive action to make the positive statements come true. Affirmations help purify your thoughts and restructure the dynamic of your brain so that you truly begin to think nothing is impossible. Repeat them often and they’ll get impressed on the subconscious mind. Affirmations are positive statements that describe a desired situation. The word affirmation comes from the Latin ‘affirmare’, originally meaning ‘to make steady, strengthen’. It is always you who is making the choice to think positively or negatively. This might seem like a very challenging idea if you’re used to absorbing the emotions and opinions of other people. Nobody controls how you feel and think unless you let them. Remember that you experience about 50,000 to 60,000 thoughts every single day of your life. So here they are: seven ways to re-program the way you think and change any aspect of your life for the better!Īlways take responsibility for your attitude All it takes is persistence and the understanding that you, and you alone, are in control of the thoughts that pass through your mind. Think optimistically: you can change your negative thoughts to positive ones. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny!Īnd if you think that changing negative thought patterns is incredibly difficult, than that is a negative thought in itself. Watch your habits, they become your character. So watch your thoughts, they become words. On the contrary, a small positive thought can have the same effect leading into a beautiful outcome. That’s what one small negative thought can turn into: a huge, speeding ball of ugliness. Like a snow ball that starts rolling and as it rolls, becomes bigger and faster. Negative thoughts drain you of energy and the more you give in to your negative thoughts, the stronger they become. I started focusing on the positive and got fascinated by self development and creating a significant life for myself and the ones around me. I recognized my behaviour, became aware of the thoughts I was thinking and the negative impact they had on my life, the lives of the people around me and on my overall well-being. Then came the moment that I read somewhere ‘If you realize how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought again’. First the divorce of my parents, which had such an impact on my life that I spent the 25 years of my life following that event mostly in anger, protest and a negative attitude. In the mini-memoires of my life I tell you about two major turning points in my life.
